From Sri Lanka to Cheshire
Our Culinary Journey
Discover how Sigiriya, led by Sri Lankan restaurateur Don Buddhika, brings the authentic flavors and rich traditions of Sri Lanka to Hale and Knutsford. Inspired by the island’s vibrant cuisine, we celebrate bold spices, time-honored recipes, and the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality in every dish.

Sigiriya Rock
Inspiration Behind Our Name
Our restaurant draws its name and inspiration from Sigiriya, Sri Lanka’s iconic rock fortress. This ancient monastic complex boasts cave temples, bathing pools, ponds, and Asia’s oldest surviving landscaped gardens. Notable features include the “lion stairway,” “mirror wall,” and intricate frescoes. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, Sigiriya stands as a testament to Sri Lanka’s rich history and architectural brilliance.

Tapestry of Flavours
The Essence of Sri Lankan Cuisine
Sri Lankan cuisine is a vibrant tapestry of flavours, blending hot spices like cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, and pepper, abundant in the central regions of Kandy and Matale. The staple “rice and curry” encompasses a multitude of dishes, including soups, meats, seafood, lentils, vegetables, sambols, mallums (sautéed greens), phies (dry-style vegetables), and achcharus (pickles). Traditional desserts often feature ingredients such as curd, treacle, rice flour, palm treacle, and jaggery, accompanied by a variety of fruits.
